As part of Council for World Mission worldwide, CWM Caribbean is faithful to the vision, mission and values of Council for World Mission as we engage in action which demonstrates Christ’s vision for this world. Jesus’ declaration, “I have come that they may have life, and life in all its fullness” (John 10:10), has caught the imagination of Council for World Mission. CWM has heard this declaration as an invitation to vision with him a time when the people of this earth would experience love, have their needs met, be satisfied by fellowship, wholeness, and the joy of liberty. More than that, CWM has embraced this as a call to action to work toward this vision through programmes, activities, partnership, ways of working and collaborating which lift the fallen, heal the wounded, bind broken hearts, give comfort and hope to the discouraged and challenge the complacent. In short, the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
Who We Are
The CWM Caribbean Region is comprised of the Guyana Congregational Union (GCU) and the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands (UCJCI). Our CWM Caribbean family embraces three countries – the Cayman Islands, Guyana and Jamaica. Through our partnership with Caribbean and North America Council for Mission (CANACOM) – we work with other countries in the region Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Curacao.
What We Do
Chief among our goals for the next four years is to stimulate reflection, discussion and action within the CWM Caribbean family as we participate in God’s mission. Importantly we want to explore the uniqueness of the Caribbean story and identity as we engage in mission while challenging each other to be agents of transformation of the societies in which we are located. We celebrate the warmth and vitality of the Caribbean and take our place alongside others in the CWM family as we seek fullness of life through Christ for all creation.
